Blanca Robles is originally from the Dominican Republic and lives for many years in Sint Maarten. She was 30 weeks pregnant when her water broke and her life took an unexpected turn.
“My condition was so bad that I had to be transported by an air ambulance to Curaçao Medical Center. I had been on bed rest for weeks. That was a very tough period. Besides being in a different country, I had to leave my two daughters behind and I had to survive this difficult stage of pregnancy. One month later, I started to have contractions and the doctors decided that I needed a C-section immediately. On September 24, 2020, my baby boy Emmanuel Israel Valles Santos was born. During his first weeks of life, he was in bad health condition. Throughout this difficult period I received the greatest support at the Ronald McDonald House. Even though I was facing one of the toughest days of my life, the ladies of the Ronald McDonald House showered me with love and affection. The service was perfect and they were always there to help and guide other patients as well. I stayed for such a long period at the hospital and I felt like one of the girls of the Ronald McDonald. I am forever thankful for their help, their warmth and their support. Because of this amazing team, Curaçao has gained a very special place in my heart.”
