Double IM distance endurance event to raise funds for RMHC Childhood Cancer Fund

Chris Curtin helps to give sick children back their fighting spirit

On April 1 – 2, 2023 athlete Chris Curtin will host an extreme endurance adventure; a long distance endurance event that consists of 7.2k swim, 360k bike, 84.4 k. run, also known as a Double IM to raise funds for sick children battling cancer and their families. The goal is to reach a total amount of Nafl 22.000,00.

The swimming part of the endurance event will start at Pops Place at Caracasbaai, followed by the bike ride to Sentro Deportivo Kòrsou (SDK) with the run portion also taking place in the SDK area. Chris has been preparing for this extreme event mentally for such a long time, but in November 2022 he started to train intensively to reach his goal in the month of April. The estimated time to complete the endurance event is approximately 28 hours.

Chris’s motivation behind this event is to raise awareness about the importance of children’s health. Every day there may be a child who wishes to be swimming, biking and running. This cause symbolizes that in the face of adversity you must keep on fighting. Another special intention behind this good cause is the memory of his mother, Judith “TuTu” Curtin who passed away not long ago of cancer.
For this special event, other athletes of the island will also be invited to join for a portion and help with the good cause. We invite our community to support our athlete by making his dream come true.
