WILLEMSTAD – On Saturday, September 2, 2023, the Ronald McDonald House Charities Curaçao Foundation hosted its 13th annual RMHC Golf Classic at the Old Quarry golf courses at Santa Barbara Plantation. Additionally, the grand opening of the new Old Quarry Pro Shop took place on the same Saturday. This successful fundraising event was made possible through the generous support of our main sponsors: Maduro & Curiel’s Bank, KLM, Old Quarry, Sandals, All Signs, Help’R, and Canvas Company.
A total of 42 teams participated in the tournament, with each team consisting of 4 players. Prizes were awarded to the teams that secured the sixth, fifth, fourth, third, second, and first places. Furthermore, beautiful individual prizes were distributed among the 168 players, all donated by various local businesses. It was also noteworthy that one team, comprised of children, participated in the tournament.
This year marked the introduction of a ‘VIP Spectators Lounge,’ where guests could enjoy the tournament in a relaxed, beautiful, and cozy atmosphere, accompanied by the wonderful host, golfer Francis Con.
Golfers had the opportunity to enjoy various hole events, made possible by Coca Cola, Kyoto, The Wine Factory, Heineken, KLM, Lovers, MCB, Jeep, Lab de Med, and Baoase, on the stunning Old Quarry golf course.
During the award ceremony, the Balldrop took place, featuring a fantastic grand prize, thanks to Sandals.
The foundation looks back with satisfaction on a highly successful tournament, characterized by a friendly and competitive atmosphere among the teams. This year’s tournament was the largest to date, with the highest number of participants. RMHC takes pride in being able to call the RMHC Golf Classic the biggest and most popular golf event on the island.
Once again, RMHC Golf Classic has demonstrated the warm support of the Curaçao community for RMHC and its vital mission, which is to ensure that families with sick or medically intensive children can care for their child optimally and remain close to them.
The foundation is immensely grateful to over 100 companies that provided their support for this event. Through their contributions, RMHC can continue to offer its services to sick children and their families on the island. This includes the use of the Family Room at the CMC and other programs offered by the foundation to sick children and their family members.

3rd Place: Team ONDERLINGE HULP
2nd Place: Team PRO KIDSZ CURAÇAO
1st Place: Team KLM, consisting of Dirk Buitelaar, Micheal Henriquez, Marius Van Noort, Richard Vis. This team won a trip to Amsterdam, including a VIP Experience at the Dutch Open. The biggest surprise of the evening was when KLM Country Manager Dutch Caribbean and Suriname, Dirk Buitelaar, donated the return flight tickets to RMHC, allowing them to assist families in need who have to travel abroad for their sick child.
